12th International Conference on Serpentine Ecology

Since its first edition in California in 1991, the International Conference on Serpentine Ecology (ICSE) has brought together researchers worldwide to exchange ideas, share discoveries, and explore the remarkable diversity of life and processes associated with serpentine environments.

Over more than three decades, ICSE has grown into a leading international forum covering all aspects of serpentine research, including flora and vegetation, geology, ecology, evolution, biotechnology, bioremediation, and agromining. The conference scope has also expanded to include research on other extreme substrates, including gypsum soils and technosols.

ICSE comes to Belgrade

The 12th ICSE will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, and hosted by the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Biology and the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković”, National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade.

Following the 11th ICSE in Kyoto, Japan, in 2025, we are delighted to welcome the ICSE community to Belgrade.

A vibrant city at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, Belgrade is known for its rich history, lively cultural scene, and warm hospitality. We look forward to bringing together colleagues, collaborators, and friends from across the world for a stimulating scientific program and an enjoyable stay in Serbia.
